We are underway!!!! Yesterday, with a temperature of 34 degrees and a stiff wind and snowflakes we headed south at 10:35 am.
Reo was content in the back seat in her special platform bed….the 12 foot U-Haul was packed and Paul had his cheese pretzels at his side. After two hours of driving, the temp had dropped and the wind had picked up and we had only gone about 80 miles….the snow didn’t let up either….that kept up until we were about half way down Illinois…or about 200 miles or so. The trailer was behaving itself though, even with the pretty stiff crosswind, pulling smoothly and the load distributed well. So…..it got to be about 6 pm and we are still in Illinois….but the Ohio river was close…..Reo was spending her trip in the litter box…. We think it provided better footing….. It seemed forever…but we made it to Chattanooga at 1 am., followed by Atlanta by 3-ish. So now it got to be 4:40 am and Helen is fading fast…and took a nap (SO MUCH FOR HELPING THE DRIVER STAY AWAKE…SOME CO-PILOT!!!). At a little after 6 am….Paul pulled into the Cracker Barrel parking lot and caught a 20 minute cat nap and then we headed in for breakfast.Alas…we are still 120 miles from the Georgia/Florida border. So it’s 8 am and we are rolling….101 miles of Georgia ahead.
